THE FRAGMENTS OF HERACLITUS

This project has been made possible with a grant from the Honors College at the University of Oklahoma through its Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program!

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I would to thank my faculty sponsor, Dr. Laura Gibbs, for the hours and hours she spent working with me on this project.
I would also like to thank the Honors College for the books, software, and hardware that made building this website possible.

Greek Texts and Text Notes
The Greek texts almost entirely came from Diels and Kranz's Die Fragmente der Vorsokratiker.  In some cases, DK gives the complete context for a fragment, and I extrapolated the fragments as either Robinson or Johnstone had previously done.  Any emendations or textual problems are noted in the text notes, and I found these either in commentaries from other editions or by observing myself differences between different editors texts.

I typed these fragments myself in beta code and in transliteration, and I used Sean Redmond's Unicode converter to produce the Greek texts from my beta code.

Translations
The English translations of the fragments on this site come from John Burnet's Early Greek Philosophy (unless otherwise noted).  I have made some adjustments to some translations, and some I translated myself: I marked these by putting my own translated words in bold.
